1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those looking for a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot hoover after it has filled up.

Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they are very good at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have tested. It could get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot recommends clearing areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use. It takes around three hours to fully recharge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any best robot vacuum cleaner vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or via the app.

In our testing the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After being connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of cordless vacs that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It swiftly switches from floor top 5 robot vacuum vac to handheld vacuum and back again.

This model also has an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and the clip for a wand. This is a major improvement over older Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The V10's main drawback is its short running time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests show. This is a typical battery-powered vacuum's run time. This is enough time to clean the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second pass usually works). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have lots of money to spend on a robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to ensure an extensive clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses, has more advanced automation abilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a better battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode on its own and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic vacuum cleaner sale cleaner. This includes mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior modifications docking frequency settings, and more. The app is simple to use and understand, just like other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app, and you can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean station that self-empties to keep the robot's dustbin clear and optimizes suction power for each cleaning.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are made for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. The robots have an extra-wide cleaning path and dust bins that are 2 times larger than other models. This lets them clean the area for a longer period of time. They also have two side sweepers to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also comes with a smart app that lets you see the virtual map, and control the functions and schedules. You can also track the status of the vacuum and then send it to the dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app also allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum with different colors so you can easily identify which areas it's focused on or where it's stuck.

The app allows you to steer the robot manually when needed. My living room rug, for instance, has a darkly-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as an incline. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
