Bagless WiFi-Connected Robot Vacuum

This wireless robot that is bagless self-emptying robot vacuum is a black utilitarian design. Its price is comparable to other top-of-the-line smart robotic vacuums.

It can be controlled using the physical Clean and Dock buttons on the top, via the SharkClean app, or by using voice commands with Alexa and Google Assistant. It has a range of smart features, such as home mapping and virtual no-go zones.

Matrix Clean

The most popular vacuum cleaner in America (based on NPD Group/Retail tracking Service data). Matrix Clean has incredible suction power as well as Matrix & Precision Mapping. It also has an automatic emptying bottom.

It's simple to connect the Matrix to your wireless network and start mapping out your rooms with the SharkClean app for your smartphone. The app lets you create a schedule to keep your home clean or you can select rooms that you want to have the Matrix start cleaning automatically. You can also set 'no go zones such as beds or closets that you don't want it to access.

The app also lets you make use of the "spot" cleaning on demand function where you can choose a spot that is dirty on your floor map, and the robot will automatically traverse the area by repeatedly swiping its cleaning pad. It can clean everything from dog hair twigs and small pieces of paper that were left from a recent crafting project.

When the Matrix finishes it's cleaning job the Matrix will return to its dock and empty itself into the included bin. This is a great feature because it reduces your requirement to do maintenance.

One thing to note about this particular robot is that the LIDAR mapping sensor is located on top of the structure, which might prevent it from getting under some low to the ground furniture, such as tables and sofas. If you don't mind it being slightly taller than some other robots it's still an excellent choice. Also, keep in mind that this model isn't equipped with an HEPA filter like some of the other models on this list.

Precision Home Mapping

Shark's Matrix Clean Navigation uses a precision grid to leave no spot missed and incredible suction pulls dirt and debris into a self-emptying, 60-day capacity bagless base. Precision home mapping combines 360deg. LiDAR vision and a precise homemap that is available in the SharkClean App to enable fully autonomous movements and intelligent object avoidance. Night or day, it creates a detailed map of your area to allow for complete navigation without crashing into furniture or other obstacles. You can either leave your robot to clean up according to a schedule or you can use the Matrix Clean on Demand app and create specific goals for each room.

Powerful Suction

The RV2502AE is a solid mid-range robot vacuum that ticks all the boxes. It's simple to use and produces precise home maps and has bags that self-empty. It's also cheaper to operate than many other robot vacuums.

It also has plenty of power, picking up debris through its suction opening and relying on its side brushes to push hair and carpet threads into the path of the brushroll. This prevents the accumulation and blockage of the brushroll as seen on other robotic vacuums and makes this one more effective at picking up pet hair.

Apart from its suction-boosting and self-emptying base, this robot also has Matrix Clean Navigation for a thorough cleaning, Precision Home Mapping for objects to avoid, a high-efficiency HEPA filter that catches 99% of odors, dust mites and allergens, as well as two power modes for various floor types and a remote control that grants you access to all its functions. It is also compatible with voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and allows you to begin a cleaning task without touching the Robot Vacuum Mops.

It's a great option for homes with a lot of space, but its navigation capabilities could be a challenge for certain. The bump bot had issues with stairs. Other bump bots are able to avoid them but this one could not. It utilized LiDAR sensors as well as infrared to map my home but it was constantly mistaking my cat condo as stairs and asked me whether I wanted to move it. It also had a shorter runtime than advertised, which was only 180 minutes.

Self-Empty Base

Some robots, such as this one that self-empty bases. These bases vacuum or dump debris from the dust bin on board into an external dirt compartment. This makes maintenance easier. They are referred to as the Clean Base Dirt Disposal by iRobot, Auto Empty Station by Ecovacs or Bagless Self Emptying Base by Shark. They're a great convenience, but they can be a bit noisy and messy, and they usually require the use of special disposal bags.

This Shark model includes a HEPA filtering bagless floor cleaners base. It has a large capacity. It can store debris for up to 60 days and does not have to be cleaned daily like other models. It also has a large amount of amazing Shark suction that can tackle the biggest mess. The docking station's vacuum that is used to empty the dust bin onboard is surprisingly noisy.

When the robot is connected and charging it, it will emit an alarm and a green light at its top will flash to indicate that it's ready to start cleaning. If the battery of the robot is at a low level it will dock to its base until it is recharged. It's important that the dock or Self-Empty Base is positioned where it can't be obstructed by furniture or other objects and is free of obstructions in front of it.

This model is slightly more expensive than other models of robotic mops in the mid-range we've tested. However, it feels better built and performs better on flat floors. It also has a longer battery life and lower maintenance requirements. It also has wider range automation features, such as virtual boundary markers. The iRobot Roomba i7, however, is still our recommended pick because it feels sturdier and more refined, charges faster and is able to be tangled with rug tassels much less frequently and has a larger capacity for its battery.

Easy Setup

The Shark AI Ultra comes with a simple-to-use Schedule that takes just a few inputs. You can select the date and time of sunrise and sunset. You can also select the duration of the ramp times (increasing brightness or decreasing) and whether to switch on the lights at night.

It does not include the smart mapping feature or voice control like Alexa or Google Assistant, but it has a useful free programming suite. This suite includes a number of Windows-based applications that allow operating parameter settings and communication including dmXLAN switch, node configuration and also real-time testing and rapid replication to multiple installations.

The interface is easy to figure out for even the novice user. It includes tabs at the top that correspond with the various screens that the installer will display, and there are also tabs that allow you to play with the various options for colors and messages. It's a powerful tool that allows you to quickly create a quick installation. It is lightweight at 1.3MB and is compatible with everything from Windows 7 down to Windows 95.
