There's an Eco mode that runs the vacuum quietly and prolongs the run time, and Turbo mode offers an even more powerful clean. However the Turbo mode runs at a loud, unfriendly volume which can be annoying if you're running the D7 while you're working or watching television.

The D7 is one of the few robots to create and store multiple floor plans, which is ideal for multi-level homes. It also has a rapid boost feature, which permits it to return to its base and recharge prior to continuing to clean. This is particularly useful when cleaning difficult areas. Neato's mobile app is easy-to-use and regularly updated with new features. For the price, this is among the top robots for thick carpet and pet hair available.

2. Eufy RoboVac 11S

The Eufy 11S, like the Neato D7 is sleek and low-profile. It can fit under couches, beds and coffee tables with ease than other robot vacuums. It also features some innovative features that allow it to clean better and go where you want it to, such as the no-go lines that you can draw on virtual maps to prevent it from cleaning areas that are sensitive like pet bowls or bed. It also comes with a feature called auto-recharge and resume, in the event that it is unable to recharge its battery before it finishes cleaning it will automatically return to its base to recharge it, and restart where it began.

The RoboVac 11S performs much better than its predecessor, the eufy RoboVac 30C, and better than the ILIFE A4s and bObsweep Bob Pro in our tests. The dirt compartment is bigger and has a longer maximum battery life, and it removes more debris on everything from floors that are bare to carpets that are high and low-pile. It is also more durable, easier to maintain, incurs fewer recurring costs, and maneuvers itself more effectively.

This isn't the ideal robot vacuum for floors with no carpet but it's an ideal choice for households with carpets that are medium and pets. It uses random navigation and sensors in its underbelly and bumper to navigate around obstacles. It comes with a range of premium features that are similar to those you will find in models that cost twice more. This makes it a good pick for a first-time buyer or someone who is upgrading from an entry-level model, or anyone looking to reduce time and effort when cleaning their home.

This robot is as comfortable on floors that are unfinished as it is on carpet. Its 2,000Pa of suction power is enough to withstand heavy, heavily soiled carpeting. It's even able to clean pet hair that has accumulated in crevices and cracks in bare floors. It's sturdy, moves smoothly and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands for hands-free operation. The battery is smaller than the other models, but is still sufficient to power the majority of homes.

The s7 is also a good mopping robot. It comes with a 200ml tank filled with water and mopping pads that can be attached to the robot's back. Add water and a microfiber towel and the s7 will begin mopping your floors. The s7 will automatically stop and return to its dock when the mopping is complete.

Its companion application is easy to use and has a sleek layout with plenty of functionality. You can draw a map of your house, set virtual boundary lines that the s7 won't cross, set up zones that are 'no-go, or simply tell it to keep a certain room. You can also track its performance, and view its maintenance history and current status.

5. Neato Q5 Pro

The Neato Q5 Pro robot vacuum is a versatile machine that is great at cleaning floors that are not clean. It also removes a lot of debris from both high and low pile carpet. It feels impressively solid, comes with a wide range of navigation options and is easy to maintain. It has a shorter battery life, and has more recurring costs than other units.

The Q5 is among the slowest moving robots we've tested, but it has an efficient layout algorithm that doesn't require to be watched over after its first run through a space. It begins by drawing an area, and then fills in the interior with an array of parallel lines. Once the job is done it is returned to the charging station, if it was away from base.

It did a great job of cleaning hardwood floors by sucking at minimum 88% dirt from each test. It was more difficult to clean low- and high-pile carpets however, it still performed better than the average unit. It also has mopping attachments to tackle wet spills, but we haven't tested this feature.

Its maneuverability is superior for a robot with lidar, with it being capable of gliding over furniture and other obstacles. Its navigation system is able to detect stairs and floors, which allows it to effectively tackle multistory homes. It can also identify individual room types when you select them in the app. It can also adjust its power level, set no-go zones, and display a map of the current cleaning area. The Q5 is controlled through the mobile app or voice commands from Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Siri.
