BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from adding keys or replacing the ECU to get around your security system because it requires a correct PIN code to start the engine.

Like other immobilisers, The Ghost is different from other immobilisers. Ghost doesn't use LED indications or key fobs. Instead, it uses your vehicle's existing buttons to allow you to enter a unique disarm sequence that only you know.

Stop & Start

If you have ever driven a new BMW or used the stop start feature, then you might have noticed that once stopped the engine will continue to be running for approximately 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to check the vehicle for a signal that comes from the ignition key. If it detects this the vehicle will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car whenever you push a button sequence.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is an innovative next-generation device that does not require cutting OEM wires or adding aftermarket alarm and key fobs. It is hooked up to the BMW's CAN data network and programmed with an encrypted, secure PIN code that is accessible through buttons in your car. This lets you enter key sequences that aren't available in the normal media menus. For example volume up/down, source, air conditioning, cruise control etc. The PIN is between 4 and 20 characters, making it very difficult for thieves to guess.

In addition to this we can also add a service / valet mode to the system. This is activated when your vehicle is in for servicing so that the Ghost is not visible to the garage. You can activate this by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment unit (the system will flash with confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically rearm when you return.

Service / Valet Mode

This is ideal for those who need to give their vehicles to valet companies or trusted family members or friends. It also lets you bring the vehicle into the garage for maintenance or repairs without having to worry about it being damaged or stolen by a mechanic while you are waiting.

When the service or valet mode is activated, it will block your BMW from being able to drive after it has been started. This prevents anyone from test driving the vehicle while you are away. After you return, the vehicle will be restored to normal operation and prevent it from being tampered or stolen again.

The Ghost can be installed on any BMW. All you need is the correct keys, because the device does not utilize the original remotes, but can be used in conjunction with them. Anti-Hijack

Ghost developed this discreet device that is obtrusive, and unobtrusive to fight the ever-increasing sophistication of high-tech thieves. It is designed to stop thieves from adding an ignition key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost links up to your CAN data network and uses the buttons in your vehicle (steering wheel, centre console and door panels) to create a unique push sequence which requires to be entered before the engine can start.

This will activate the anti-hijack feature and, once it is activated any attempt to start the engine will be immediately blocked. The system will honk the horn flashing the indicators, and stop the vehicle when the code isn't found. By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can disable the Anti-Hijack feature. This allows your vehicle to start temporarily without the need to enter a PIN.

If you have a GPS device linked up to your BMW it can be used to disable the Anti-Hijack feature so you can still use the navigation system in your car when the vehicle is parked and not being watched. If you have a smart-phone you can also connect it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack feature and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect the Ghost device to your mobile app to enable remote control of keyless start and go functionality. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised PIN code is programmed into it. The pin code must be entered before the engine starts. This prevents thieves from bypassing the system with a cloned or replaced ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen and the Ghost will go into a service mode that disables all functions unless the PIN code is entered, or you utilize the mobile app to dearm it. Ghost can also stop the 'Relay Style Frequency Amplifier'. This is the most frequent method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob which has been duplicated or stolen through hacking. Ghost allows you to stop this by installing an anti-theft device in your vehicle that is called Secure-A Key. The device is inserted into the key-fob of your vehicle and disconnects its battery after a few inactive minutes. This is possible using the most modern PKE keys.
